Detailed day by day information
Chihuahua
The trip begins when you arrive in Chihuahua, are picked up by our English speaking guide and transferred to the Hotel San Francisco or similar. (overnight) Transfer from El Paso available. (Buses leave 8:30am, 10:30am, 3:00pm, 6:00pm)

Chihuahua to Creel
Your "Train Ride in the Sky" begins as you board the first class and comfortable "ChePe" at 6:00 am bound for Creel. Upon arriving, you will be transferred to the Pueblo Viejo Hotel or Best Western (surcharge applies). Later, you will enjoy a tour of the town, and visit majestic places like the Arareko Lake, Mushrooms Valley, The Missions, Tarahumara's Caves, and other interesting sites.

Note: If you are interested in extending your already magnificent journey by traveling to canyon floor please click here for information about the Batopilas Extension.

Creel to El Fuerte
The true adventure begins today as you re-board the ChePe Train for your unforgettable trip to El Fuerte, climbing to an elevation of more than 8,000 feet before descending to sea level. This line took 111 years to complete due to the rugged terrain of the Sierra Madre Range and financial problems. More than 200 trestles/bridges and 87 tunnels were required to complete the task.

Upon arriving in El Fuerte, you are transferred to hotel La Chozo or you can upgrade to the fabulous Posada del Hidalgo Hotel, which was once a mansion. We recommend eating onboard the train before arriving, as the dining room at the hotel tends to close early.

El Fuerte to Divisadero
Today you get to do it all over again on your return trip to Divisadero, this time climbing from sea level to an elevation of more than seven thousand feet. Spectacular rivers, canyons, mountains, and towering cliffs abound in all directions. Upon arriving in Divisadero, you will be transferred to either the Mansion Tarahumara (valley views, no meals) or the famous Posada Mirador Hotel which offers dramatic views of three canyons from your room. We highly recommend upgrading to the Posada Mirador Hotel, if it is available (it often books up EARLY). Dinner

Divisadero to Chihuahua
This morning you have time to do some exploring on your own before re-boarding the ChePe train after lunch. Upon arriving Chihuahua, you will be transferred to Hotel San Francisco. Breakfast & Lunch

Chihuahua
The tour comes to an end as you checkout of your hotel this morning.

You are scheduled to arrive in Chihuahua around 7:50 pm, but delays are common. Affordable pre/post trip lodging specials are available. Transfer to El Paso available. (Buses leave every hour beginning at 8:00am)
