Itinerary
Detailed day by day information
El Paso to Chihuahua
Depart El Paso by bus. Buses leave hourly all through out the day, and is a five hour transfer time. (Transfer from airport, bus station, or El Paso area hotel all accommodated to bus depot.) Upon arriving in Chihuahua you will be met by an English speaking driver who will transfer you to your hotel for the evening. If you arrive in Chihuahua early enough, take some time to explore the city and take in the sights of this historic location.

Chihuahua to Creel
The adventure begins in earnest as you board the "ChePe" first class train at 6:00 am, bound for Creel. The scenery gradually changes from a dry and relatively flat desert landscape to one of scenic canyons and mountains as the train climbs from an elevation of 4,600 feet to more than 8,000 to cross the Continental Divide. Upon arriving in Creel, take a local tour of the city, Mission, Indian Caves, and the Lake Area before checking into your hotel. Creel is the shopping center and trading center for the region, offering everything from hand made musical instruments to pottery and jewelry. Creel is also the tourism center of the region, with optional trips to the famous Cusarare waterfall, Basihuare Canyon and Mission, La Bufa Canyon, Recohuata Thermal Springs, and the highly recommended two-day extension to Batopilas - a thrilling journey to the bottom of the canyon.

Note: If you are interested in extending your already magnificent journey by traveling to canyon floor please click here for information about the Batopilas Extension.

Creel to Divisadero
Enjoy a leisurely morning where you have time to do some shopping and sightseeing before catching the 11:26 am train to Divisadero. Upon arriving in Divisadero, transfer to your canyon hotel for the evening. The lodge is situated near the rim of the mighty Urique Canyon, providing wonderful views that extend for miles. Optional side trips available in the area include canyon tours, horseback riding, jeep tours and helicopter rides. We recommend upgrading to the Posada Mirador Hotel, which is situated on the rim of the canyon. The hotels in Divisadero all provide view’s which overlooks the mighty Urique Canyon. Upgrading to the Superior Hotel option will provide patios with fantastic canyon views from your room.

The views of the three Canyons that comprise Copper Canyon make Divisadero ("The Divide") an unforgettable stop on your trip across the mountains. This area is four times larger than the Grand Canyon and gives visitors many memorable vistas of this pristine mountain wilderness.

Dinner included at hotel.

Divisadero to Bahuichivo/ Cerocahui
Enjoy Breakfast and Lunch at the hotel on the rim before you re-board the ChePe train for a short but extremely scenic train ride to Bahuichivo, the jumping off spot for passengers heading to Cerocahui - the most beautiful mountain village in the state. Upon arrival at the Bahuichivo train depot you will be transferred the 45 minute journey to the charming town of Cerocauhi, and the amazing hotel Mision. With the rooms nestled amongst the vineyard, and a sparkling little pool beckoning you for a dip, relax, unwind and enjoy.

Dinner included at hotel.

Bahuichivo/ Cerocahui to Los Mochis
Following breakfast at the hotel, you have a fantastic morning tour of Cerocahui and the Gallego mountains. Lunch at the hotel before you re-board the ChePe for the incredible trip down the mountain. This portion of the trip is undoubtedly some of the most scenic, as you descend nearly 5300 feet through rugged mountains and deep canyons. Keep your camera handy - you will need it. The train is scheduled to arrive in Los Mochis at approximately 10:25 pm. You will be transferred to your Los Mochis hotel for the evening.

Los Mochis
The tour comes to a close as you are transferred to the airport for your trip home and we say “adios!”. Transfers to the Los Mochis bus station, or to Topolabampo Bay can also be accommodated.
