Romney Marsh & Rye
Your Journey
Detailed information
Your journey takes you to Romney Marsh and the ancient Cinque Port town of Rye. Once surrounded by sea, this fortified hilltop town played an important role in the defence of the south coast of England and offers breathtaking views of Romney Marsh and the sea. Meandering for over one and a half miles from Rye to the coast, the river forms part of the picturesque scenery visible from several vantage points in and around the citadel of Rye.

Brunch with Bucks Fizz is served on the outward journey. On arrival at Ashford station you will be met by your guide who will accompany you on the coach tour (approximately one and half hours), including visits to the historic churches of Ivychurch and St Mary in the Marsh and a historic Martello Tower at Dymchurch. This is followed by free time (approximately two hours) at the quaint village of Rye before rejoining the coach for transfer to Hastings station for your return journey to London.

A glass of chilled champagne is served as soon as you board the train. This is followed by a four course supper accompanied by half a bottle of wine.

Rail News & Updates

The Orient-Express
The British Pullman takes its name from George Mortimer Pullman, an American, who in 1864 built The Pioneer, the first railway carriage designed with true comfort for the passenger. The later creation of the Pullman Car Company in 1882 led to his domination of luxury train travel in Britain from that time onwards.
