Check into your Alamosa hotel, the centrally-located Holiday Inn Express, anytime after 3pm. If you prefer, ask us about affordable rates at the family-friendly Inn of the Rio Grande Hotel and Waterpark. This evening take a leisurely stoll through downtown, check out the local shops, and choose from a wide variety of dining options. Alamosa is literally the town built in a day; buildings were brought in by the Denver Rio Grande Railroad and the same inn that served breakfast in Fort Garland that morning served dinner that night in Alamosa. Overnight in Alamosa.
Alamosa to La Veta and return
Today you will enjoy a ride on the Rio Grande Scenic Railroad; a memorable journey over spectacular La Veta Pass. You will have a stop for lunch and further exploration in quaint La Veta, then return over the pass for another amazing scenic journey. The train arrives back to the Alamosa depot at 5:45 pm.
