Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Where and when will the Whistler Mountaineer® operate?
Beginning in 2006, the Whistler Mountaineer® will operate between North Vancouver and Whistler, British Columbia . This scenic trip will take approximately three hours to complete. The Whistler Mountaineer® will operate seven days per week.

Will it be a year round service?
For 2006, the Whistler Mountaineer® will operate daily between May and October. As demand for the service builds, we hope to expand the operating season and, ultimately, offer a year round service.

How much will a ticket cost?
Please visit the Pricing section of our site for detailed pricing information.

Is it only a luxury service?
The Whistler Mountaineer® will offer two types of service, both of which are unique and different.

We will offer a capacity of approximately 200 guests on each three-hour Whistler Mountaineer® trip using single level dome coaches and fully refurbished traditional rail coaches with picture windows. The consist will be pulled by a GP-40 type locomotive.

Both services will offer interpretive commentary, meals and beverages and the guest service excellence that Rocky Mountaineer Vacations is renowned for.

Will there be vacation packages available to highlight the regions that surround the routes?
Yes, we intend to introduce at least five package tours for 2006 to complement the rail service and to highlight the exceptional tourism offerings available in British Columbia.
