The Great One

Three Night Hot Springs Retreat

Friday: Fly into Fairbanks from Anchorage on a morning flight and transfer 60 miles to Chena Hot Springs Resort. A variety of tour options are available at Chena for purchase - dog sled rides, ice skating, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, flightseeing, sleigh rides, and snow coach tours. Make sure to visit the Aurora Ice Museum, the largest year-round ice environment in the world created from over 1,000 tons of ice and snow and kept at a constant 20 degrees.

After touring the museum, relax at the Ice Bar. Enjoy sipping our specialty beverage an “appletini” in an ice carved martini glass while awed by your surroundings. Sit comfortably on caribou fur covered stools and take in the view or warm your hands by the ice fireplace. Overnight at Chena and relax in the natural hot springs. Keep your eyes peeled for the Aurora Borealis, which often is seen in winter this far North.

Saturday: Return to Fairbanks and explore this northern city. Be transported into gold rush past or engaged in a vibrant art and cultural scene. Visit the University of Alaska's Museum of the North and explore a variety of dining and shopping options. Overnight in Fairbanks.

Sunday: Ride the Aurora Winter Train from Fairbanks to Anchorage. Dine onboard and watch for wildlife as you travel through the Matanuska-Susitna Valley and past Mt. McKinley on your journey across the snow-blanketed winter landscape . Overnight in Anchorage.
