Overview
Trip Highlights
As the name suggests, this is a rewarding way to experience The Royal Scotsman for those with less time to spare. Your journey takes you across the Forth Railway Bridge to Perth for a private view of Glamis, Seat of the Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne, and childhood home of the late HM The Queen Mother, before travelling through the Kingdom of Fife to Stirling where you stable overnight and enjoy a formal dinner and entertainment before returning to Edinburgh the next morning.
Itinerary
Detailed day by day information
Edinburgh - Stirling
The Royal Scotsman departs Edinburgh Waverley in the afternoon, and travels north across the Firth of Forth by means of the magnificent Forth Railway Bridge. This is one of the first cantilever bridges, designed and built by Benjamin Baker in the late 1880s. It is considered one of the greatest achievements of the Victorian Age, and known as the eighth wonder of the world.

Enjoy afternoon tea as you journey through the former Kingdom of Fife and across the Tay Bridge to Dundee where you disembark to visit Glamis Castle and gardens, seat of the Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne, and childhood home of the late HM Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother.

Rejoin the train in Perth and travel through the Kingdom of Fife, of which Macduff was once Thane, before heading west again to Stirling with its magnificent Royal Castle dominating the surrounding countryside.

The Royal Scotsman stables overnight in the historic city of Stirling and after a formal dinner, you can enjoy entertainment in the Observation Car.

Stirling - Edinburgh
Depart Stirling after breakfast this morning and return to Edinburgh where your journey ends.
