Travel back through time aboard the Texas State Railroad with our 1917 Baldwin 2–8–0, 1901 A.L. Cooke 4-6-0, or our restored Alco train with many other historical and rebuit engines. The restored early 20th century rolling stocks steam through East Texas on a stunning round trip between Palestine and Rusk from March through November. More than three hundred years of American history are tied together by a ribbon of steel that thrills riders of all ages.
Regular scenic excursions depart at 11:00 AM from either the Rusk or Palestine Depot. The train returns to the station at approximately 3:30 PM. There will be a 1 1/2 hour layover at the other end of the rail where you may enjoy lunch, watch us turn the engine on a turntable, relax in the sun, or play in the park at Rusk.
You will be seated in one of our restored coaches. Most coach seats are located by large windows and seat two on either side of the aisle. Or enjoy our open air cars with no windows offering a natural breeze of fresh air.
Reservations are recommended as trains can sell out. Please plan to arrive by 10:30 AM to pick up your tickets at the Ticket Office. You will also be given instructions on when and where to board.
