The entire train journey takes place during daylight to ensure that you enjoy every minute of the breathtaking scenery of glacier-fed lakes, majestic mountains ranges and ferocious rivers.

The Rocky Mountaineer® train travels in both eastbound and westbound directions between the beautiful coastal city of Vancouver, British Columbia, the resort town of Whistler, British Columbia, and Jasper or Banff and Calgary, in Alberta.

These are the Canadian train vacations that made the Rocky Mountaineer® famous throughout the world!

Rocky Mountaineer: Station Information

About Rocky Mountaineer Rail Station
About Rocky Mountaineer Rail Station
The station is complete with vaulted ceilings and mountain views and provides an exciting new event venue in Vancouver; the space will be available for rent by community members for private functions. The Station was designed by Vancouver-based Christopher Bozyk Architects Ltd.

Exterior
After renovation, what remains is much of the external structure and the brick facade, and keeping the integrity of the classic rail building, the CN locomotive repair shed remains as well. The most prominent new feature is the full-length glass walls that provide guests with a full view of the train waiting on the platform, helping to further build anticipation of the trip to come. Prolonged arrivals and departures are avoided due to the newly extended train platform which accommodates lengthy train consists. Extensive landscaping surrounds the station and complements the outdoor patio enjoyed by guests as they await the familiar “All Aboard” call.

Interior
The interior of the station retains the cavernous feel of the large urban rail stations of decades earlier with its open concept and vaulted ceilings. All of the materials selected reflect the Canadian Rockies in their colour and texture, while the overall design provides flow, shows attention to detail, and supplies flexibility in the space for special events. The glass exterior walls allow the natural light to highlight the textures and colours of the natural materials within, such as the rock veneer and cedar battens that adorn the interior walls, as well as the plants that enhance the entry hall.

Within the building, furniture is placed in such a way as to reflect the level of service guests have come to expect when traveling on the Rocky Mountaineer. The waiting area, complete seating for 225 people and room for 1530, provides guests with an unobstructed view of the train from the station’s interior, while guests listen to softly playing music, enjoy complimentary coffee or tea, complimentary Internet service, and shopping at the retail souvenir kiosk. The walls throughout the building are decorated with a pictorial history of the Rocky Mountaineer.
